Week 9 Start 'Em Sit 'Em

Start 'Em

Justin Herbert: Herbert has been balling all year dipping below 20 fantasy points just once in 6 games and averaging 24.5 on the season. This week, he gets the Raiders in a favorable matchup in a game the Chargers have to win. Herbert always has upside since the Chargers defense gives up so many points and he has to throw. He's a top 5 play this week in what should be a high scoring affair.

David Montgomery: Montgomery has been inconsistent all year but has only two games above 14 points in PPR formats. He as well as the Bears have had a tough schedule up to this point but things should open up for them in the ladder half of the season. Montgomery has the most yards after contact in the league and runs hard every game. Chicago's miserable offensive line should be able to hold their own somewhat against a mediocre Tennessee pass rush giving him more lanes than usual. Montgomery should have one of his better games of the season this week.

Will Fuller: Fuller has recorded a TD in his last five games and has 100 yards in 3 of 7 contests this year. Coming off a bye against Jacksonville could play to the advantage of Fuller as Watson passed for over 350 yards the last time they met. I expect Fuller to be a big part of the gameplan and since Houston needs to win out, Watson should be slinging the ball all game against a sad Jacksonville secondary. Don't get cute with Fuller this week and put him in your lineup.

T.J. Hockenson: Hockenson has been the epitome of consistency this year posting between 9 and 17 fantasy points in every game this season. Matthew Stafford is going to suit up for Detroit without Kenny Golladay which is great news for Hockenson owners. Stafford will lean on Hockenson all game and he should get peppered with targets. Fire him up as a top 3 TE this week.

Sit 'Em

Ryan Tannehill: Tannehill made my starters list last week and disappointed against a bad Cincinnati defense. If he can't torch the Bengals or at least score 20+ fantasy points, I don't like his chances this week against Chicago. The Bears' secondary makes it very difficult for any QB to have success against them and Tannehill could struggle mightily. He seems to be trending the wrong direction and if he does indeed have another off week, he could be a tough start in weeks to come.

Melvin Gordon: Gordon is still operating at Denver's number 1 back after his DUI incident a few weeks ago. Lindsay has been running with purpose behind Gordon when he's healthy and I'm surprised he hasn't been promoted to the top of the depth chart. Atlanta has a stiff run defense which won't do Gordon any favors and I believe Vic Fangio may start to increase Lindsay's touches which will cut into Gordon's value. He's a risky play this week as he just hasn't been producing as he once did with the Chargers.

Robby Anderson: Anderson has been producing consistent yardage totals all year but doesn't seem to be in the conversation to get in the end-zone. With Christian McCaffrey coming back this week, he'll be even less likely to get into the end-zone. KC's defense has been tough for WRs to crack in most games and although I could see Anderson having a solid game, there's very little chance he'll breakout. He's a low-end WR2 for this week.

Eric Ebron: Ebron has had some good moments in his new uniform for the undefeated Steelers this year but has been inconsistent. Although I do love his matchup and Pittsburgh will be moving the ball with ease, it will be the WRs who will do most of the work. Big Ben will be able to utilize the dynamic WR trio he's blessed with and won't have much need for Ebron. He's a safe bench this weekend.
